Company Information

Richmond Sound Design Ltd. is a respected entertainment technology industry leader, providing efficient and cost effective programmable sound and show control solutions for clients around the globe. RSD, Ltd. was Founded in 1972 as a manufacturer of theatrical sound consoles. Since then, RSD has originated many sound and theatre industry advancements, including the primary development of the MIDI Show control specification. RSD provides solutions available on a wide array of hardware platforms, and is currently developing the "E-Show" network, which allows show control systems to be internetworked with TCP/IP through the Internet.

Contribution

RSD has provided the Hypermedia Studio with one of their Virtual Matrix and hard disk playback devices "The Audiobox", an 8 track digital audio device capable of sending and routing audio out any combination of 16 outputs, while taking cues direct from MIDI Show Control, or a number of different systems. In addition, the Hypermedia Studio has been working with the development team at Richmond Sound Design, acting as the West Coast Beta testers for their "ShowMan" Windows NT based show control software, as well as their new "E-Show" product, an Internet TCP/IP based show control environment. It is hoped that the "E-Show" technology will allow direct and interactive Internet based collaborations with other digital artists and research institutions in the near future.
